Job Title: Pre School Deputy Manager

Job Description (and a brief statement about why your setting is such a great place to work): Responsible for supporting the Manager in the development and daily management of the pre-school. Help in providing a safe, caring, and stimulating environment for children of 2-4 years of age.
To deputise for the Manager as needed working at a level and capacity that is needed for a community preschool
To help line manage all practitioners and admin staff.
To supervise and assist with the daily setting up of indoor and outdoor environments to provide for the safety, wellbeing and inclusion of the children attending the Pre-School.
To work with and support colleagues to enhance children’s education and social development with special attention being paid to fostering positive behaviour.
To build links and work in partnership with parents, carers and professionals to promote the wellbeing of all the children.
To ensure that all equipment and resources are maintained, tidied away and stored safely at the end of the Pre-School day, and that the necessary preparation is carried out for the following day.
To contribute to the development and progression of the preschool through continually and consistently monitoring the staff team
To be flexible with working hours working term time only (38 weeks a year), but may need to come in out of hours if needed
Duties and responsibilities
Aid in advising/supporting Practitioners in carrying out all duties and ensuring high standards of care and education are maintained.
Observe and validate Practitioner’s learning journeys/paperwork to ensure a consistently high standard is maintained
To carry out training and mentoring of staff when needed
To carry out general admin duties as needed
To carry out audits when requested
Contribute to and/or run staff meetings if required
Carry out one to one’s, probation meetings, termly supervisions and annual appraisals as requested.
Adhere to the Pre-school policies and procedures to ensure that high standards are maintained within the Pre-school among all staff, paying attention to the importance of safeguarding.
Establish relationships with parents / carers of the children to ensure they are engaged in the child’s education and development.
Contribute to partnership working with all Pre-school staff to ensure that the children have access to appropriate activities to support their physical, emotional, social and intellectual development whilst being aware of families’ ethnic, cultural and linguistic development.
Support the work of the Pre-school Staff and guide them in providing a suitable curriculum that enables children to achieve their early learning goals.
Along with staff, contribute to the planning, observation and assessment procedures to ensure children’s progress is satisfactory.
Use a recording system for individual children, which enables effective storage and retrieval of information, which can be shared with parents and other professionals and agencies, being aware of the confidentiality of the information contained therein.
Support manager in keeping abreast with all new legislation
In partnership with manager prepare for OFSTED inspections and action any recommendations
To undertake the role of Deputy Child Protection Officer if requested
To be a key worker to a group of children.
To ensure that staff sickness and training absences are adequately covered, ensuring that ratios are met at all times.
Be willing to go on courses.

Hours Details: This is a Term Time position of approximately 32 hours per week
